Privacy & Compliance

Last updated: June 30, 2026

FileViewerHub is built to provide a secure and privacy-focused way to open supported files online. Our tools help users view supported file formats directly in the browser without installing extra software.

This page explains FileViewerHub’s compliance-focused approach to privacy, data minimization, browser-based file processing, and user data protection.

1. Our Compliance Approach

FileViewerHub follows a privacy-first and data-minimization approach. Instead of requiring users to upload files to a remote server for processing, our viewer tools are designed to process supported files locally in the user’s browser.

This helps reduce privacy risk because sensitive file contents remain on the user’s device.

Our approach is based on the following principles:

  • Process files locally where possible
  • Avoid unnecessary collection of personal data
  • Do not store user file contents
  • Do not require account registration to use core viewer tools
  • Keep file viewing simple, transparent, and privacy-conscious

2. Local Browser-Based File Processing

FileViewerHub uses client-side browser technology to open and read supported files. When a user selects a file, the browser reads the file locally and displays the content inside the webpage.

This means:

  • Files are not uploaded to FileViewerHub servers for viewing
  • File contents are not saved in our databases
  • Email messages, contact lists, database records, and attachments remain on the user’s device
  • Processing happens inside the browser environment

This client-side model is especially important for sensitive file types such as saved emails, contact cards, mailbox archives, and database files.

3. Supported Privacy-Focused Tools

FileViewerHub provides tools for viewing different file formats while keeping privacy in mind.

Examples include:

  • EML Viewer for saved email message files
  • MSG Viewer for Microsoft Outlook message files
  • MBOX Viewer for mailbox archive files
  • VCF Viewer for vCard contact files
  • SQLite Viewer for SQLite, DB, and SQLite3 database files
  • HEIC Viewer for Apple HEIC and HEIF photos
  • CSV Viewer for CSV and TSV spreadsheets

Each tool is designed to help users inspect file contents without sending the file to a server for standard viewing.

4. Data Minimization

Data minimization means collecting only what is necessary. FileViewerHub is designed to minimize data collection by avoiding server-side file uploads for viewer functionality.

We do not intentionally collect or store:

  • Email body contents from EML, MSG, or MBOX files
  • Contact details from VCF files
  • SQLite database records
  • HEIC image/photo data
  • CSV and TSV spreadsheet records
  • File attachments opened in the viewer
  • Personal file content processed in the browser

Basic technical information may be processed by hosting or security systems, such as request logs, IP address, user agent, request path, and timestamps. These logs are used for security, performance, and abuse prevention, not for reading user files.

5. GDPR Considerations

The General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, focuses on protecting personal data and giving individuals greater control over how their data is processed.

FileViewerHub supports GDPR-friendly privacy principles by:

  • Reducing unnecessary personal data collection
  • Avoiding server-side storage of user file contents
  • Processing supported files locally in the browser
  • Providing clear privacy and cookie information
  • Allowing users to control their own files on their own device

If a file contains personal data, FileViewerHub’s local-processing approach helps keep that file content under the user’s control during viewing.

6. CCPA/CPRA Considerations

The California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act provide privacy rights for California residents.

FileViewerHub does not sell personal information and does not use opened file contents for advertising, profiling, or resale.

Our privacy-conscious approach supports the following principles:

  • No sale of user file contents
  • No storage of opened files for viewer use
  • No account required for basic file viewing
  • No intentional collection of sensitive file contents

7. Children’s Privacy

FileViewerHub is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Our file viewer tools do not require users to create an account or submit personal details for basic viewing.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information through contact forms or other communication channels, please contact us so the issue can be reviewed.

8. Security and Infrastructure

FileViewerHub is served over HTTPS to help protect connections between the user’s browser and the website.

The website may rely on hosting, security, and infrastructure providers to operate reliably. These systems may process standard technical logs for security, debugging, performance, and abuse prevention.

These infrastructure logs do not include the contents of files opened locally in the browser viewer.

9. No Server-Side File Storage for Viewing

FileViewerHub’s core viewer functionality is designed around local browser processing. For supported viewer tools, files are read directly by the browser and displayed locally.

We do not use server-side storage to save:

  • Uploaded email files
  • Contact lists
  • Mailbox archives
  • SQLite database contents
  • HEIC image/photo data
  • CSV and TSV spreadsheet records
  • Attachments extracted from local files

This helps users inspect files with a lower privacy risk compared to traditional upload-based online viewers.

10. User Responsibility

Users are responsible for ensuring they have the right to open, view, export, or process any files they use with FileViewerHub.

Users should avoid opening files they do not trust and should be careful when handling files that may contain sensitive, confidential, business, legal, financial, or personal information.

11. Limitations

FileViewerHub provides privacy-focused file viewing tools, but no website can guarantee complete security in every situation.

User privacy may also depend on:

  • Browser security
  • Device security
  • Installed extensions
  • Network environment
  • Hosting provider logs
  • Third-party scripts, if used
  • User behavior and file source

We recommend using an updated browser, avoiding suspicious files, and keeping your device protected.

12. Policy Updates

We may update this Compliance page as our website, tools, or legal requirements change. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
