What Is a VCF File?

A VCF (Virtual Contact File) or vCard is a standard format for saving contact card details. It is generated when exporting contacts from Gmail, iCloud/Apple Contacts, Microsoft Outlook, or sharing contacts via iPhone and Android.

A single .vcf file can package one or hundreds of contacts. Each card contains key fields like name, phone numbers, email addresses, organizations, birthdays, notes, and profile photos.

FileViewerHub lets you preview and filter these contacts privately in your web browser. You can inspect contact details before deciding to import them into your address book, avoiding duplicates and clutter.

Powerful Client-Side VCF Tools

FileViewerHub processes your vCard files inside your browser for instant viewing, searching, and exporting without compromising your privacy.

1

Search & Filter Contacts

VCF files exported from Google Contacts or iCloud often package your entire address book into a single file. Our viewer parses multi-contact vCard archives instantly, presenting them in a clean, scrollable interface. You can search by name, filter by phone number or organization, and locate specific contacts in milliseconds without importing anything to your local address book.

2

Deep vCard Field Support

Whether you have a legacy vCard 2.1 file from an old flip phone or a modern vCard 4.0 contact list, our parser reads all embedded data. Inspect names, multiple phone numbers, personal or work emails, physical mailing addresses, organization details, birthdays, notes, and even profile photos and avatars.

3

Privacy-First CSV Export

Need to import your contacts into Excel or Google Sheets? Convert your entire VCF contact list into a standard CSV spreadsheet with a single click. Because the parsing and conversion happen entirely in client-side JavaScript within your browser sandbox, your contact phone numbers and personal emails are never transmitted over the internet.

Platform Guides: How to Open VCF Files on Any Device

VCF files (vCards) are standard contact storage structures, but different operating systems handle them in unique ways. Use these step-by-step platform instructions to view and merge them natively.

Opening VCF Files on Windows

By default, double-clicking a .vcf file on Windows often only opens the first contact, ignoring the rest. FileViewerHub instantly parses and displays all contacts in bulk without polluting your Outlook or Windows Contacts app.

Opening VCF Files on macOS

Mac users can double-click a .vcf file to automatically import it into the native macOS Contacts application. You can view all cards, organize them into groups, or search. Alternatively, use FileViewerHub to inspect file contents immediately without polluting your local address book.

Opening VCF Files on iPhone / iPad

When you receive a .vcf attachment in Mail or Messages on iOS, tap the attachment. iOS will open a share/view dialog showing a list of all contacts. Tap "Add All Contacts" to merge them into your iCloud or local Apple Contacts, or tap individual cards to view them.

Opening VCF Files on Android

Open the native Contacts application, open the settings drawer, and look for "Import" or "Manage Contacts". Select Import from .vcf file, locate the downloaded card, and import the list to your Google Account or local storage database.

Frequently asked questions

What is a VCF file and how is it created?

A VCF (Virtual Contact File) or vCard is a standard format for saving contact card details. It is generated when exporting contacts from services like Google Contacts, iCloud/Apple Contacts, Microsoft Outlook, or sharing a contact from an Android or iPhone device.

Which vCard versions does this VCF viewer support?

Our online viewer supports all major vCard specifications, including vCard 2.1, vCard 3.0, and vCard 4.0. It parses standard fields and encoded properties across different legacy and modern formats.

What contact fields can I preview with this tool?

You can view all primary contact data stored inside the vCard, including full name, phone numbers (mobile, home, work), email addresses, physical addresses, job titles, companies, birthdays, notes, and even embedded profile photos.

Can I open a VCF file that contains multiple contacts?

Yes, our client-side parser fully supports multi-contact VCF files. If your file contains dozens or hundreds of contact cards, the viewer lists them in a searchable table so you can inspect each profile individually.

Why should I preview a VCF file here instead of opening it directly?

Opening a VCF file on your phone or computer often automatically imports the contacts, which can clutter your address book with duplicate entries or unwanted contacts. Our viewer lets you inspect and filter the data before deciding to import it.

How do I export my vCard contacts to an Excel or CSV file?

After loading your VCF file into the viewer, click the export button to convert the entire contact list into a standard CSV spreadsheet file, which you can open in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets.

Does my contact information get uploaded to any servers?

No. The parsing is done entirely on your device using JavaScript. Your contact names, phone numbers, and photos stay secure within your browser and are never sent or stored on our servers.
